Episode 17

Faith In Action | "He Is Faithful"

SCRIPTURE: James 5:1-12

SHOW NOTESJames’ book is clearly challenging “brothers and sisters” to live in a way that pleases the Lord. Now in the first 6 verses of chapter 5, he seems to shift his message to those who are living in a selfish and prideful manner. James uses strong words, and he wants these people to realize there will be consequences for their self-centered lifestyle. He declares that they should “weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon them” because they will ultimately face this powerful Judge. Considering these truths, what are believers to do? “Brothers and sisters,” we must wait patiently during times of suffering. James reminds us of the prophets and Job – each of these people faced great hardships, trials, and much suffering. But James ends with these hope-filled words for believers. “You have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.”
